The glaze forms a crisp light brown break line at the bottom of the glaze line, as well as a less intense light brown break line around the lip.

The glaze and clay combination formed very small dark speckles spread throughout, giving the form a “vanilla bean ice cream” looking finish. This cup also boasts a small opaque teal spot on one lower side. This occurred due to a unique chemical exposure from a nearby piece during the in kiln firing.

Once the slab was formed into a cylinder and bisque fired, black under glaze was hand painted into the crevasses left behind by the plant. The piece was then dipped into a clear glaze, leaving a creme colored glossy glaze finish over a majority of the piece.
The glaze is just see through enough to make out the texture from the cloth used in the slab rolling process.
